Last night I slept quite late, which is pretty obvious for a knowledge worker or more commonly known as a Software Professional, that I am. I was tired and was having a severe body-ache (one of the professional hazzards we SP's face). Since next day was a saturday, the dream that every SP longs for, waking up late on Saturday ( and of course on Sunday as well), same was my thought before going to sleep.
Today, I woke up at 11 AM and as ussual walked straight to the bath-room. After finishing my daily chore there, I tried to see whether the fresh water tap has something flowing. To my astonishment, yes it was. Ussually, at this hour, fresh water is not expected because the Water Department likes to disturb everybody of their sleep and hence allows us to fill out storage water tanks between 5 to 7 AM.
Anyways, that was a surprise I liked and prayed that this becomes a routine.
I went to my balcony to see if the newspaper was there. And yes, it was there, nothing unusual. As usual, I went to the kitchen to make myself a cup of hot tea. I came to my living room with the cup of tea and the newspaper.
I removed the rubber band from the newspaper roll and searched for the main paper. I tried to find the news pertaining to some RIOT, another nandigram or GODHRA issue. Wasn't succesful, then I tried finding something about some murder or terrorist attack, blood-shed anywhere, again, nothing. All I was reading on the first page was progress, success, growth of students, business, industry, country. It was all about peace efforts being taken up by various organizations, societies etc. Not even a single report of theft, bulgary, murder, violence etc was there until the second last page of the paper.
This was a real surprise for me when I saw such news items in small fonts on the last page of the news paper.
I thought, the news papers have actually woke up to the email that was once circulated stating then then President Hon'ble Kalam sahab's view on the Print Media.
I was glad to know that. But also was afraid that will this be only one day I see these changes or they are here to stay.
So far I had two beautiful experiences on this day. There are more to come. Keep watching this space for more.
